Don't know how to make some macros for WoW? Don't worry about it, you will learn here. Being able to make and use macros in World of Warcraft is very important if you want to be able to play the game more efficiently. Refusing to use these helpful shortcuts will be a major disadvantage.
Macros allow the usage of several spells and/or items at the same time by pressing just one button. You can also switch gear on the move without having to open either your character panel or your backpack. When needed, you can also switch from one quickbar to another by simply pressing one macro. There are a lot of things you can do with macros.
There are two major groups of macros for WoW you can make. The first one is for doing multiple actions at the same time by pressing the macro key once. This is the general template:
/cast (Ability/Spell)
/cast (Ability/Spell)
/use (Item Name)
You can add as many spells and items as you want to the list. Just know that the abilities you add there must not trigger any global cool down. If that happens, than the macro will only fire the first spells.
Another group of macros for WoW are the ones that fire multiple abilities one after the other by pressing the same macro key over and over again. The template for this type of macros looks like this:
/castsequence reset=(Cooldown timer) (Ability 1) (Ability 2) (etc)
Where it says (Cooldown timer) you have to input the overall timer for the spells you add to the macro. It will need a little tweaking before it works as intended, but once it does, it'll be very useful. You can fire whole chains of skills by only pressing just one button. You won't have to keep reaching out to keys on your keyboard.
There are also all sorts of other macros for WoW. You can add commands for targets, for Focus targets and even mouse over targets. You can also add modifiers to the macros to allow the usage of different spells by simply holding a modifier, like Ctrl or Alt, while pressing the macro.
As you can see, making a macro isn't that hard. You just have to know how to write the commands you need. Since the game is getting bigger and bigger, more abilities will be available and you won't have room to use them all. But by using macros for WoW, you can solve that problem easily.
User forms in Excel provide a great graphical user interface to input data. You can use labels, text boxes, option buttons, check boxes, etc. to create a lovely survey form, for example. The image control can be used to put images on the form that provide the user more information about the data he is going to enter. The command buttons are where you write the code using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), a computer programming language closely related to Visual Basic (VB) and easy to learn.
The coding involves the following steps:
Find the first blank row where the data from the user-form can be transferred to the Excel worksheetThen write code to transfer each value from the text boxes, check boxes, option buttons, etc to the appropriate cells in the Excel spreadsheetOnce the data is transferred the next lines of code clear the filled form to make way for the entry of the next dataFinally we wish that the keyboard cursor should always be at the starting point for the new entry to be done
The process of the coding may sound complicated but it is not. You can have the user-forms filled online as well as offline.
The main advantage of inputting data using the user-form comes from the fact that most of us fill so many forms in our lives through a similar kind of procedure that we find this procedure easy and convenient.
Last, but not least, the data then can be analyzed using standard Excel formulas and functions to derive the information we need.
Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard
A Mac's operating system, Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard, is faster, easier to use, and more reliable than Windows. It has built and maintained this position because Apple has based Leopard on a principle of constant innovation. You can therefore achieve more by doing less.
Apple has created the comprehensive applications that come with Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard to give you a fully-rounded computer life at home or in the office. Every Mac has iChat, for example. This enables you to have four-way video chats and conferences, and share the contents of your screen. You also receive iLife, software that beats anything a PC can offer for producing and enhancing music, photos, videos and DVDs.
Perhaps the most impressive part of Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard, however, is Apple's web browser, Safari. This is the fastest web browser on any platform in the world with features that are a pleasure to use. For instance, put a word in the "Find" box and Safari highlights the matching text and dims the surrounding page, making a search even quicker to complete.
Leopard and Windows
Nonetheless, just because Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard is faster and better than Windows doesn't mean that Apple ignores users who are new to Macs and more familiar with the Microsoft operating system. To make the transition from PC to Mac as smooth as possible, every Mac has Boot Camp. This allows you to run Windows just as though you have a PC.
If you wish, you can also run Windows side by side with Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard. First install Parallels Desktop for Mac or VMware Fusion followed by Windows. You can then switch from Leopard to Windows as you please.
Other software
Another great feature of Macs is that every major piece of software, including Microsoft applications such as Office 2008, is available in a Mac version. This is useful if you want to retain files on a Mac from your former PC. The Mac equivalent of the software enables you to continue using these files without having to abandon them.
Moving files
The process of moving your files from a PC to a Mac is straightforward. Just download the files to a USB or FireWire hard drive and then plug this into your Mac. Alternatively, use a network, or ask your Apple shop to do the job for you.
Networks
There's always a certain amount of pressure to conform to the type of computers used on a network at home or work. Macs, however, can join any network either wirelessly or with an Ethernet cable and function perfectly. In fact, as described here, if the other computers use Windows, you can easily load this and have the clear advantage of running the Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard system as well.
Wi-Fi
The Wi-Fi capability for network and Internet connections applies to all Macs. You don't need to buy a separate wireless link: every Mac has Apple's AirPort Extreme, which enables you to access the net wherever there's a suitable Wi-Fi network.
Viruses
Of course, when surfing the net most people are aware of the ever-present danger of spyware and viruses. But Macs don't need special anti-virus software because Apple constructs them on a stable UNIX foundation and ensures security is a key built-in feature. Apple maintains this security by offering regular free updates and by having the Safari web browser warn you if you're downloading a suspect file.
Dependability
It's a load off your mind to be able to trust a Mac's resistance to viruses and spyware. Just as important is the confidence you can have in a Mac's reliability. Unlike many PC manufacturers, Apple creates both the hardware and software of each Mac. This results in computers that are not a combination of different brands but holistic units.
The main advantages of this approach are consistent performance and high working speeds. When you switch on a Mac, it comes to life far more quickly than a PC, which takes a while to check the different aspects of its system. A Mac also crashes or freezes far less often than a PC because its components and applications work so well together.
Peripherals
This is not to suggest that you must use Apple brand peripheral devices such as printers, cameras, and hard drives. On the contrary: Apple installs hundreds of peripheral drivers in each Mac so that it recognises most peripherals the moment you connect them wirelessly or via the USB or FireWire ports. This means you speed up the whole process of using a new device for the first time and also keep the Mac's hard drive free of additional software.
Ease of use
Such ease of use is a characteristic cited by owners as one of Mac's chief benefits. Everything about a Mac is coordinated to produce a computer that fulfils a wide-ranging set of tasks in as simple a manner as possible, without compromising creativity and fun. From the clarity of the display and ergonomic features of the keyboard, to the most sophisticated graphics software, Apple has made each Mac's hardware and software simple and accessible. This is why Macs prove so popular in schools and colleges.
Environmental concerns
These design considerations extend to the environmental impact of Macs. Macs are quiet to run and use the latest electrical developments to reduce power consumption. Apple also run a trade-in and recycling scheme that ensures Macs are either refurbished and sold on, or are broken up with the least possible harm to the earth. This is yet another advantage of dealing with a company that takes its responsibility to you and the world at large very seriously.
If you want to get better at Starcraft 2 as Terran so you can climb your way up the ranking system on Battle.net, then you're going to have to learn the hotkeys. If up to this point you've been only using your mouse to play, I guarantee you are playing MUCH slower than you could be.
At all times your left hand should be on the keyboard ready to hit your hot keys to build units, create buildings, get upgrades, and attack your enemies.
If you played the old Starcraft then you probably remember that it was so hard to use the default hotkeys because some of them were so far apart. Like if you wanted to build a marine you would select your barracks, then hit "M" which for me is NOT easy to do with my left hand.
But in Starcraft 2, Blizzard has really put some time into choosing GOOD hotkeys that are easy to hit with your left hand (or your right hand if you mouse with your left hand). Now in Starcraft 2 if you want to train a marine you use the hotkey "A" which is conveniently located right under your left pinky - very easy to hit.
Now if you're just getting started, then you probably don't know what hotkey does what in the game, and that's OK. As long as you focus on learning them, you'll have them memorized in no time without spending hours studying them.
Here's how: from now on when you're playing any game of Starcraft 2, whether campaign or multiplayer, make the decision that you are going to learn the hotkeys. So instead of clicking on your Barracks and clicking the marine to train one, mouse down over the marine and the tooltip will show you the hotkey that you need to push (it will say something like this: Train Marine [A])
Now without clicking the marine, move your mouse back up to the center of the screen and press the "A" button to train a marine. If you do this for everything, you will start to memorize the different Terran hotkeys and eventually you'll be able to use your keyboard for everything, which will greatly increase your speed of play and ability to implement the more advanced Terran strategies.
Recently I have had the opportunity to play around with Microsoft Word. We all use daily, but 99% of the users don't take advantage of its incredible features. Even worse, if we think just a little bit, we actually sub-utilize it. How many hours we spend repeating over and over the same routine tasks? Formatting things manually? Performing lengthy repetitive tasks again and again?
Personally, I deeply reflected about it and decided that it was not worth all the time was in such a miserably fashion, so I while ago I decided to explore a bit to see if something could be done. Let me tell you that there is a whole world down there, but the benefits you will get from taking the pain of exploring it are absolutely worth the effort.
First, you need to learn about macros. A macro is a sequence of "commands" that you record. Then you can make Word to repeat those steps for you every time you want it, but just clicking a button, or pressing a keyboard shortcut. So, by recording the steps, you don't have to perform the sequence over and over. The sequence is recorded and you can play it any time you need, almost effortlessly.
But after a little while, you learn that macros are limited, and that they allow you to do only so much when your purpose is to make more automatic your experience with Word. Then you inevitably will end up working with VBA. VBA is "Visual Basic for Applications" and it is basically the language Word is built upon. To say it other words, using VBA you have COMPLETE control of what Word does. I work heavily at creating math documents, process that involves a lot of routine and repetitive task. Using VBA I have, seriously, cut my work time in half. It takes a little while to get the hang of it, but once you get it started with it, hey, you don't want to stop. There is always a new thing you can do to make your life easier with Word, and then you will want to learn more VBA.
Don't stay behind, and seriously cut your time in front of the computer. Learn macros and VBA and you will know what I'm talking about.
